Discord Doom Bot

Inspired by Twitch Plays Pokemon I created a discord bot that would provide more or less the same interaction, but for Doom! And Discord!

The bot would take a screenshot of the game, pause it and then post it on discord, along with reaction emojis which people could react to to vote. The reaction with most votes would be the action that the bot would take. Unpause, do the action and repeat.

Each unpause would be a split second, more than one frame so it’s not too slow but not a long time that you can’t fine-tune it either.

Took me a while to get it running but managed to have it on the cheapest AWS EC2 machine I could, which would execute the game plus the bot. It was a fine tuned balance as the game was surprisingly quite heavy for the cpu baseline.

This bot only saw limited use and a closed beta testing.
